Giving and Budget FAQ

At TBC, we give 7.5% of each dollar given to our Budget Offerings to the SBC Cooperative Program. It is also important to realize that our church gives separately to local and global mission efforts as we sense God's leadership.

We also give to specific missions seasonally, including

  • North American Mission Board (Annie Armstrong Offering, Easter Season)
  • Tennessee Baptist Children Homes (Mother's Day Offering)
  • Tennessee Baptist Adult Homes (Father's Day Offering)
  • International Missions (Lottie Moon Offering, Christmas Season)

The Southern Baptist Convention is unique among missional Christian organizations in the way that it funds mission work. The Cooperative Program is the simple principle of local churches prayerfully determining and giving a percentage of its weekly offerings to the State Convention who then, in turn, contribute to the National Convention. In this way we "cooperate" in financial partnership with more than 46,000 nationally to do what we alone could not in charing the Gospel globally.

SBC give an average of $480 million to support denominational causes. The largest of which is International Missions (more than 50% of this total), North American Missions (23%), and Seminary Education, which trains the next generation of ministers for these 46,000 churches. The SBC supports 3,600 missionaries serving in International Missions work, and 2,600 serving in North American (USA & Canada) Missions.

TBC holds a monthy business meeting where details of the church budget are presented, along with other church business. Attendance is open to non-members.
